Job Duties: Provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and emergency dental services to patients while following OSHA requirements by assuring regulatory compliance, including reviewing patient medical history’ charting and reporting pathological conditions to the patient; developing a written treatment plan with all options explained to the patient. Ensure meaningful clinical rotations for dental hygienists, dental assistants, dental students, dental hygiene students, and dental assistant students in line with course requirements; Conduct informed consent discussion with all patients prior to initiating any treatment, with discussion including an explanation of the planned procedure and any alternative procedures, disclosure of significant material risks associated with any alternative, and responding to patient questions; assuring integration of patient education into all phases of the treatment plan. Participate in all appropriate clinic-wide quality assurance program initiatives, including but not limited to chart audits, clinical quality measures, and patient satisfaction metrics. Participates in staff meetings and adheres to company policy and procedures while also following rules of conduct as outlined in the employee handbook. Provides annual competency assessment for dental assistants and hygienists. Contributes in the development of dental specific quality measures and goals. Must keep up-to-date with all current dental procedures. Analyze and evaluate dental needs for each patient to determine changes and trends in patterns of dental disease. In accordance with HIPAA regulations, this position requires full access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Such disclosure is necessary to perform the requirements of the job. Confidentiality of PHI must be maintained. Fit dental appliances and provide preventive care. Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments. Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during procedures. Use dental air turbines, hand instruments, dental appliances, or surgical implements; apply fluoride and sealants to teeth. Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures and provide preventive or corrective services. Write prescriptions for antibiotics or other medications. Design, make, or fit prosthodontic appliances, such as bridges and dentures; write fabrication instructions for prescriptions for denturists or dental technicians. Fill pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials; treat exposure of pulp by pulp capping, removal of pulp from pulp chamber, or root canal, using dental instruments. Eliminate irritating margins of fillings and correct occlusions, using dental instruments.
Minimum educational requirement: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) Degree.
Must have current Kansas Dental License.
